February is often celebrated as one of the most romantic months of the year. Although candy and flowers fill the shelves of local grocery stores while restaurants prepare for candlelit dinners, February isn’t all romance and roses for everyone.
I can remember many Valentine’s Day shared alone with my head buried in work, girlfriends, gossip and a glass of wine, and even the occasional disappointing date with “Mr. Right Now”. In other words, Valentine’s Day isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be for the lonely. February can be a fairly disappointing month for those of us reminded, that while others are celebrating partnership we ourselves feel very “alone”.
Traditional Valentine’s Day does us an injustice by making us believe that we need to look outside ourselves for somebody to make us feel whole or loved. True love is actually radiated from within our hearts and it requires us truly falling in love with ourselves to receive love in return. Don’t get me wrong, having partnership and somebody who we love and loves us in return is a beautiful thing and definitely part of the human experience but it isn’t the only piece. Buddha said, “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” His statement couldn’t be more correct about love.
So regardless of whether in partnership, marriage, friendship, or if you’re feeling completely alone this season it’s important to start the vital practices of Self Love! So what are some ways you can begin simply practicing self love? Here are just a few of my favorite practices:

I’ve dedicated a large part of my business to helping people heal their colon. I’ve seen tons of people suffer from less than ideal digestion and elimination. And whatever the activity may be, be it biking, walking, kayaking, swimming, or dancing around the house to some good tunes, make sure you enjoy it. Also track these basic activities on an app like “My Fitness Pal” to help keep yourself accountable as well as see what you burn doing random physical activities like housework or even sex.
4. Healthy Eating
I know, I know, you probably clicked on this blog to find a way around having to drink smoothies and eat vegetables for dinner, but unfortunately, healthy food is important. Despite your possible doubts, eating healthy can become really enjoyable! It just takes a tiny bit of effort. Look up some healthy versions of the meals you love - Protein Style Burgers, Romaine Tacos, Creative Salads, etc. - and try them out! 5. Surround Yourself with Positivity
Having people on the same weight-loss journey to connect with and gain support from is a HUGE help for achieving your weight loss goal. But even if you’re on this journey alone, it’s important to surround yourself with people who are all-around positive. These types of people will be encouraging and excited for your progress. Remember negativity can easily seep into our subconscious and make us fall off the wagon. Positivity is KEY! Try following motivational people on Facebook and Instagram so your threads stay flooded with tips, tricks, & positive influences. Keep your circle small if you have to but make sure the people and influences in your life are positive, supportive and in alignment with your goals.

We all face pressures in our daily lives. I know as a business owner and a woman I’m constantly plagued with an absurd amount of stressors. Stress can be extremely damaging to our state of mind, body, and hormones. So the question is how can we de-stress at the end of the day or week? Taking an hour and a half in a quiet space, focusing on my breathing, and working on my strength training has been incredibly helpful at the end of a stressful day. Massage is one of my personal favorite, albeit sometimes more expensive, ways to get some much-needed relaxation time. 3. Epsom Salt Baths & Infrared Saunas
Epsom salts can help soothe sore muscles, relieve pain and bruising, and help you relax. Lighting some candles and soaking in an Epsom salt bath is a totally FREE and favorite de-stressor of mine! Infrared saunas are another great resource. The deep detoxification that comes with the intense sweat session from an Infrared sauna is an amazing way to relax and can relieve pain and sore muscles just like baths but better because it also burns 600 calories in 30 minutes. 4. Magnesium Supplements
It’s important to have the right amounts of magnesium and calcium in the body. Balancing the minerals in your body makes you feel more relaxed and promotes good health in general. Not to mention most people are fairly deficient in it anyways, so taking a supplement daily before bed will help you sleep better, feel well rested, improve digestion and overall feel much more relaxed on a daily basis. Journaling is more of an emotional stress-reliever rather than physical, but it is still a great practice at the end of the week. Often we hold all our ideas, intentions and worries bottled up inside and it manifests itself as stress. Emotional Stress leaves us weakened by worries both mentally and physically. Writing everything down daily takes a huge weight off my shoulders and I recommend it to everyone for reducing stress.

Tips & Tricks to get you summer ready!
Summer is well on it’s way! The San Diego sun is out and you know what that means… time to find that perfect swimsuit! Or rather… time to get in shape FAST so you can look good in that swimsuit, right? Getting summer ready is easier said than done, and like most people, I too struggle with getting back that “summer body” after a winter full of over indulging. I mean, who can say no to those February girl scout cookies right? But after years of researching fad diets and quick-fixes, I’ve narrowed down what I’ve found to be some of the easiest yet best tips & tricks to get that body bounce back just in time for an awesome San Diego Summer!
Everyone knows water is vital for our health, but did you know that drinking more can help you shed excess water weight? Yep... fresh clean water gets rid of toxic water weight. As it turns out, our bodies retain water as a result of too much sodium in our system. The more water you drink, the more sodium you’ll flush out, and the less water weight you’ll hold onto. This is a simple way to shed a few pounds FAST! It's also a good idea to reduce the amount of bad sodium in your diet for even better results. Eating this way really boosts weight loss and gets you on track to get that summer body!
