Vegetarian and Vegan based diets have become very popular recently in main stream media not just because of the obvious humane treatment of animals but because of the amazing health benefits most all experience on this primarily plant based diet. Many celebrities have expressed their appreciation for the lifestyle and testified to the anti aging, weight loss, increased energy and overall health benefits achieved on these plant based diets. We also cant help acknowledge that most of these celebrities have been able to maintain a healthy weight, youthful appearance, and the vital energy we have come to desire as a society. Celebrities like: Alicia Silverstone, Alanis Morissette, Anne Hathaway, Carey Underwood, Christie Brinkley, Diane Keaton, Ellen Degeneres, Jared Leto, Joaquin Phoenix, Michelle Pfeiffer, Moby, Pamela Anderson, Prince, Russell Simmons, Samuel L. Jackson, Woody Harrelson and recently America’s Sweetheart BEYONCE! Athletes like: Famous QuarterBack Joe Namath, Tennis Player Martina Navratilova, NBA Great Robert Parish, MLB Baseball Player Prince Fielder, Iron Man World Champ Dave Scott, Track Star Carl Lewis, & an even more impressive Raw Vegan Venus Williams Tennis Superstar! It cant be denied that the absence of animal protein is easier on your digestion since animal protein takes longer to break down, digest, and remove from your gastro intestinal track then other plant based foods. Plant based foods also tend to have more variety of nutritional benefit and serve a multitude of purposes within the body while supporting multiple functions. Plant based foods like Nuts, Seeds, Fruits and Veggies are so beneficial to your organ function, immune system, and optimal wellbeing so it is recommended to make them a minimum of 2/3rds of your diet. Unfortunately, after giving up animal Protein some Vegans and Vegetarians make grains, soy, and processed foods a larger part of their diet as opposed to replacing the animal protein with the fruits and veggies as the vegetarian diet was originally designed. These food items can be just if not more harmful to the body and the digestive track if eaten in excess then animal protein. If you are making the vegan or vegetarian diet your lifestyle always remember a true vegetarian replaces animal protein with additional plant based foods primarily fruits and veggies for the best results and long term health.
